Overview

Silvano Vini e Cibi Al Banco, nestled in the vibrant heart of Milan at Piazza Morbegno, offers a compelling blend of rustic charm and culinary flair. This cozy bistrot invites you into a warm setting where vintage furnishings and soft lighting create an intimate atmosphere, ideal for quiet evenings or lively gatherings.

The menu is a thoughtful curation of small, shareable plates with a clear emphasis on authentic Italian flavors reimagined with subtle creativity. Signature dishes like Pane e Ragù and Tartare di Fassona showcase robust, home-style cooking elevated by refined technique. Meanwhile, inventive offerings such as Uovo Fritto con Kimchi and Cocktail Maison add an unexpected twist that speaks to the kitchen’s playful spirit.

Silvano excels as a destination for those who appreciate tasting a variety of nimble, well-crafted bites rather than a traditional sit-down feast. The convivial selection encourages sharing and conversation, making it perfect for groups keen to explore a range of flavors. The place is particularly gluten-free friendly, broadening its appeal.

The experience is further enriched by an attentive and knowledgeable staff ready to offer personalized wine pairings from a well-curated list that spans diverse preferences. The synergy between food and wine here is notable, with local and seasonal ingredients lending authenticity, and drinks complementing the dishes without overpowering them.

While some may find the portions modest, and the concept leaning towards tapas-style rather than a full dinner, the quality and creativity are evident. The vibrant atmosphere draws a diverse crowd—locals, travelers, and food lovers—seeking a refined yet relaxed Milanese dining experience. Its popularity means booking ahead is wise, especially during peak hours when the space hums with energy.

In essence, Silvano Vini e Cibi Al Banco stands out as an inviting spot that balances tradition with innovation. It’s a place where the rustic allure of Italian cuisine meets a contemporary sensibility, all served in a heartfelt, unpretentious environment that reflects Milan’s culinary pulse.

cozy bistrot spot. immaculate vibes, with the low lights, vintage forniture and dishes, chill music playing. menu has a variety of small-to share dishes, perfect if you like to try many options at once. each dish was tasteful, with a homemade feel to it: favourite was definitely the Ragù with crostini bread. Wine list is well equipped for all preferences. Service was perfect, very friendly staff and happy to make recommendations.

This place was just great. The atmosphere was chic and lively, a fun place to be. The service was warm, friendly and attentive. The food was fantastic and very affordable. Relatively simple dishes executed brilliantly, often with an imaginative twist on a classic (like creamed cod with chimmichurri). We ate a series of small dishes, all were delicious but particularly the creamed cod, russian salad, parmagiana and the pickles. The waitress recommended great a great wine pairing for the cod (bardolino which despite being a red was just perfect - light, summery and fresh). Can't recommend this place highly enough. They certainly deserve their place in Time Out magazine's top restaurants in Milan. If you want to leave service, be sure to take cash. This place can't accept tips by card.

Outstanding on all levels. Came highly recommended by our Airbnb host and was literally 50m from our front door. We arrived at 6.10pm and didn't have a reservation but they gave us a table until 8pm. We ordered several dishes and all were amazing. Washed it down with a bottle of sparkling rose and we left very, very happy customers. Would highly recommend and book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Unpopular opinion- I don’t think the food is anything special. The pumpkin with the cheese on top was very good but if you think about it all the plates are super cheap and nothing special. Bread, eggs, pumpkin, potatoes. I mean This is not a dinner place. It’s more like tapas and ok-ish. Maybe I’m too harsh. Try it yourself :) Wine was very good. Staff was nice. Place is cool.

I’ve been here a few times now and have to say that every single drink and dish I’ve tried has been excellent. From desserts, to cocktails, to wine, to sharing plates the quality is excellent… the papas bravas with egg is a must. Can we please petition to replace the popularity of spritzes with sprussà instead? So refreshing and light. For negroni lovers try the “la maison” which is a salty take on on the popular cocktail. My one nitpicky thing is that service could be a bit better but it is rarely great in these types of establishments so I’ll let it go. Try and book because it’s always full!
